Saugeen Shores Hub recognizes Sara Dolbeck and the countless hours she has dedicated helping the community of Saugeen Shores. Sara is just one of the many volunteers that will be featured in the Saugeen Shores Hub’s Volunteer Spotlight, where we shine a light on individuals who make Saugeen Shores a better place through volunteerism.

Sara lives in Port Elgin and owns Dot Net Computers with her husband Ken Dolbeck. She also operates a bookkeeping service and is the Accounting Officer for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

She says she likes to help out where she can. “I like to give back to the community and help others if I have time. If my volunteer time helps to raise funds for a deserving cause then I have accomplished what I set out to do,” said Sara.

She volunteers for many organizations around Saugeen Shores including the Rotary Clubs in both Port Elgin and Southampton, Friends of MacGregor Point Park, Port Elgin BIA and Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Sara says volunteering is her hobby and doesn't really keep track of the hours that she puts in.

Over the years Sara has done many things to make Saugeen Shores a better place. As part of her efforts as a member of the Port Elgin BIA, she recently organized the Coulter Parkette viewing of the final concert of the Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem tour.

Sara and Ken are host parents for both past and present Rotary exchange students. She has helped out at the Rotary Home Show, conquered Ribfeast, participated in barbecues, silent auctions, sold raffle tickets and dressed up for parades.

She has helped scare the many visitors to MacGregor Park’s Witches in the Woods with her involvement in the Haunted Trail, is a past a Summer Music volunteer and is the Friends of MacGregor Park Treasurer. Sara is also on the Huron Shore Run committee.

You will be able to catch Sara volunteering on the Cham-bette Christmas Home Tour November 11, where she will be spending her time helping out at the Kidson-Durrer home on the tour.
