98 The Beach's John Divinski is first to hold the position of Honourary Chair for Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's Light the Way campaign.
The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the Honourary Chair for the 2016-2017 Light the Way campaign.
Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson said local broadcaster and radio personality John Divinski has agreed to take on the task of helping to raise $150,000 for new equipment for the hospital.
“Mr. Divinski has been a proud supporter of the Foundation and its efforts to raise cash annually to buy much needed equipment for the hospital in order to better serve the health needs of the Saugeen Shores region,” said Kidson.
Divinski has been a broadcaster for over 50 years, the last 11 of which have been in Saugeen Shores at 98 The Beach. He has been involved in a number of fundraising campaigns representing various agencies and organizations.
“It doesn’t get any more important than maintaining top-notch health care services in our own community. The Foundation is constantly looking to raise money for the equipment we use at the hospital. The Light the Way campaign is one of those fundraisers. I’m humbled to be asked to lend my support for such a worthy cause,” said Divinski.
Divinski said he looks forward to working with the community to help achieve the $150,000 fundraising goal as part of the $500,000 the Foundations spends each year – updating and replacing equipment in the Southampton hospital site.
Foundation Chair Jonna Ebel said work has been going on behind the scenes for some time now and she looks forward to a successful campaign this year that will benefit everyone. She is particularly excited to announce the Foundation’s very first Honourary Chair. “We are so pleased that John has agreed to assist the Foundation in this way,” said Ebel.
The Light the Way campaign officially begins on Monday, November 14 at 5 p.m. with a special kick-off celebration at the Southampton Hospital.
