runners specialolympicsThe Port Elgin Knights of Columbus are holding their fourth annual bottle drive in support of Special Olympics on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. 

This fall Special Olympics Central Bruce has registered 48 athletes in 10 available sports that run year round. This past summer was a qualifying year for next summer’s provincials and Special Olympics Central Bruce is waiting to hear this month about whether or not their bocce, golf and track and field teams’ will advance.  

Jacqueline Gravel, of Port Elgin has been chosen for the Winter World Games Team for Canada which is going to Austria in February of 2017. 

To help support these local athletes as well as those across Ontario, Knights of Columbus asks that you bring your empty alcohol cans and bottles to The Beer Store in Port Elgin October 15 and 16 and donate them to Special Olympics.
