People started boarding the S.S. Trolley at the first of its stops on Green Street, downtown Port Elgin.

It was day one for the new S.S. Trolley as it arrived on time, precisely at 11 a.m., on June 29 downtown Port Elgin to pick up the first of it's summer passengers, taking approximately one hour to complete its first official loop.
Several people were excitedly waiting, loonie in hand, to ride the new Saugeen Shores attraction, which will travel daily between the Southampton's and Port Elgin's downtown through July and August.
The first passengers at the S.S Trolley stop were the Aldous family from Port Elgin. Grandparents David and Joan, along with mom Mary, were taking their grandkids, Hope and Zoe out for the day. “We're going to stop in Southampton and look around,” said Joan adding that they were also heading to Fairy Lake for the children to feed the ducks. “It's something new for them, they've never been there,” she said.
Mary Lou Hills was waiting at the trolley stop at Port Elgin's Main Beach after completing a morning run from Southampton. “I'm so excited. This is so cool. It really does join the two towns.” she said. “It's great to connect the business communities, I think, and great for locals and tourists alike,” said Hills.
The trolley costs $1 per person to ride, children under 5 ride for free. Exact change is required and the trolley will operate seven days a week from June 29 to September 5 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. There are six designated stops along the route and a GPS system allows the public to track the trolley live to see how close to their nearest stop it is.

The S.S. Trolley turned onto High Street, Southampton as it headed to its stop at Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre.
More passengers boarded the trolley at the BCM&CC stop by G.C. Huston Public School in Southampton.
The S.S. Trolley made its way along the scenic North Shore Road from Southampton and Port Elgin.
Leaving Port Elgin's Main Beach, the S.S. Trolley headed to downtown Port Elgin.
