There was a dominant colour to be found at Saugeen Golf Club on June 17 as Pretty in Pink held their fifth and final Ladies Golf Tournament, All Pinked Out, with proceeds going towards their $100,000 pledge to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) for cancer care.
Over $10,000 was raised from the event, which included $4,925 from the live auction, officiated by auctioneer Pat O'Connor.
Pretty in Pink's Sylvia Sheard said it was their best golf fundraiser ever it was great to go out on such a high. “We've had a great five years,” said Sheard. “It's always been really special as everyone's always loved dressing up in pink and having a good time.”
With a 3 p.m. shotgun start, the sold out event saw the ladies play nine holes of golf before coming back for prizes, appetizers, a three course meal, live auction and raffle.
The Queen and her Ladies in Waiting won the best dressed team with All Punked Out a close second and The Elegant Ladies, All Pinked Out taking third place.
SMHF Executive Director, Sally Kidson, who also took part in the tournament praised the Pretty in Pink team for all they had given to the Foundation and to cancer care, adding that the fact that this was their last golf tournament made her sad. “Not just for the fact that they've been raising money but because it's such a sense of camaraderie and it gives a voice to women in a way that really the community hasn't had before,” she said. “They just created a great club.”
Pretty in Pink's final event, Denim and Diamonds gala dinner, will take place at the Southampton Coliseum, September 3. Tickets are $100 and are available at Infinite Lingerie & Active Wear in Southampton with the proceeds completing their pledge to the Hospital Foundation.
