Amy Gregorio wants your empties and on June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., she will be at the Port Elgin Beer Store accepting bottle donations, to fundraise for her upcoming Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run in 2017.
The Snow Run is a ladies-only snowmobile ride, where participants raise money for breast cancer patients in Canada. The funds cover costs that are not covered by OHIP or personal benefits such as: wigs, prosthetics, transportation costs, hotels, medications.
“This will be my third year participating [in the Snow Run] and in the last two years, with the help of amazing friends and family sponsoring me, I have raised around $7,500,” Gregorio said, adding that she raised $300 by gathering empties after Christmas and New Year’s.
“I had the Bottles for Boobles Facebook page up since fall and normally do pick ups at people's homes when I can arrange them or have them drop off to me, but decided to do this all in one day (June 25) to make it easier,” Gregorio said.
The Bottles for Boobies Facebook page often posts on days where Gregorio and her partner, Kari Baker will happily pick up empties from around town.
There is a promotion right now where if you share, like and comment on the bottle drive photo you have the chance to win a $50 LCBO gift card.
Across Canada the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run has assisted 445 women with Breast Cancer. For more information on the Snow Run, visit www.breastcancersnowrun.org or www.kellyshiresfoundation.org.
