Missing Person ResponseOn Monday, May 23, Saugeen Shores Police were notified of two missing children from a residence in Saugeen Township. Officers responded and learned that two girls, ages 5 and 6, had been playing in the back yard and had wandered off. The property is surrounded by a wooded area, farm land and a creek.

In a May 23 media release, police and family of the two girls searched the immediate area of the house and surrounding wooded areas. Saugeen Shores Fire Department were dispatched and responded with two off-road vehicles (ORV). An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Bruce County Paramedics also attended to assist.

A family member of the girls located clothing belonging to the girls approximately 500 meters from where they were last seen. Officers converged on the area and the girls were located not far from the clothing in good spirits and unharmed from their adventure.

Saugeen Shores Fire Department attended with their ORV’s to take the girls, who had lost their shoes, back to the residence.

There is no foul play suspected and no charges are pending. The quick response, cooperation between emergency services and the availability of specialized equipment helped to ensure the safe return of the missing children.
