WHSBG still looking for men to "walk a mile"

shoes fullWomen's House Serving Bruce and Grey is still looking for men in Bruce County to step into a pair of women's heels and “step up” for women in their life.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fundraising event that will take place on Sunday, May 29, where men in Bruce County will take a pledge to end gender violence, rape and sexual assault. The pledge happens at Queen's Bar & Grill in Port Elgin followed by a march up the main street in red high heeled shoes. If you wish to be part of this impactful charity walk, register today.

The proceeds of ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Bruce County will benefit the shelter and programs in Kincardine, including Second Stage Housing Units in Kincardine, Port Elgin and Wiarton.

Last year, grandfathers, fathers, sons and daughters marched proudly up the main street and the conversations that took place around why participants had decided to walk were organic and honest; powerful and so important. They're important because it's critical that we open the lines of communication about sexualized violence. As long as it's hidden away, sexualized violence is immune to a cure.

We are looking for community minded men who are brave enough to “walk a mile” in a pair of women’s heels to champion the end of violence against women. Shoes are provided and the day promises to be a fun family day for all.

Will you “step up” and take the pledge to end violence against women?
