Canadian author, Mickey Maple, was welcomed at École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School by students in Carol Ann Slade’s Grade 3-4 class on Friday, April 29. They enjoyed hearing stories about significant figures in Canadian history, such as Laura Secord, Tom Burns, Tom Thompson, Nellie McClung and more.

Mickey Maple used different voices to portray characters as he read from children’s mystery books he has written such as “The Crystal Canoe Caper – A Chugger Mugger Mystery” and “The Race to Save Canada – The Laura Secord Story”.

The entertaining author has been working with the Bruce County Museum on a writing workshop for kids, which will see the kids help co-author a new book 'A Saugeen Mystery - A Historical Romp through Bruce County’.
