SS Police1 fullBetween February 8 and February 14, police issued nine tickets and warnings for those traveling on a closed road. Most of these were in relation to driving around the road closed sign on Highway 21. Provincial highways are closed by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) when the determination is made that the road conditions are too dangerous for people to be traveling. The roads are then not plowed as well.

When people go around a road closed sign and go into the ditch or get into a serious crash police, fire, ambulance, tow truck operators and sometimes hydro trucks have to respond, putting their lives at risk as well. Please don’t travel on closed roads.

Saugeen Shores Police assisted 13 motorists who ended up in the ditch over February 12, 13 and 14. In each of these incidents there was no apparent damage and no injuries. Most of these incidents occurred on Highway 21 or County Road 3, some in Saugeen Shores some outside our area. Please be careful and drive according to conditions.
