OPP fullThe accused has been identified in the ongoing police investigation of an attempted murder.

On February 12, 2016 at 9:29 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence along Scotch Settlement Road, Saugeen First Nation.

The victim, a 19 year-old Saugeen First Nation man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

In a February 14 press release, he has since been transferred to a hospital in London where he remains listed in critical condition.

Twenty-year-old Tristan Bricker-Ritchie of Saugeen First Nation has been charged with attempted murder. He is held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on February 16.

Members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate under the direction of Detective Inspector Andy Raffay of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
