On February 12 at 9:29 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence along Scotch Settlement Road, Saugeen First Nation.

In a February 13 press release, the victim, a 19 year-old Saugeen First Nation man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. He is listed in critical condition.

Members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate under the direction of Detective Inspector Andy Raffay of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

A 20 year-old Saugeen First Nation man has been arrested and is being held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing scheduled for February 14, 2016.
