There was a total of 84 incidents between December 28 and January 3.

Festive RIDE was conducted by the Saugeen Shores Police between November 28 and December 31.

From the 958 vehicles that were checked, only two roadside screenings were conducted and both passed. In addition there was a marijuana seizure and subsequent charge.

Saugeen Shores Police conduct RIDE throughout the year but a concentrated effort through the holidays helps keep our roads safer. Please make alternative arrangements for getting home when you know you are heading out and will consume alcohol.

On January 3 at 1:28 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Albert Street in Southampton. A vehicle north on Albert Street was stopped signalling a left turn into Macs Milk and was struck from behind. There was minor damage done to both vehicles but no injuries.

Just after 2 p.m. on January 3 police responded to a call at the All Seasons Motel to a drug overdose. The 29 year old Hamilton man was located on the floor but was responsive. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and held for observation. The male overdosed on a heroine injection.

On the afternoon of January 2 police received a report of a fight at Walmart that was to have taken place on Decmember 31. Police are investigating.

On January 1 at 2:57 a.m. police responded to a report of a person banging on a residence door. Police located an intoxicated 20 year old male and took him home to his father’s.

At 3:18 a.m. on January 1, police received a report of an intoxicated male stepping out into traffic on Goderich Street. As the police cruiser approached, the male stepped in front of the cruiser. The 30 year old Kitchener man spent the night in the cell.

On December 31 at 4:03 p.m. police received a complaint of a threatening incident. This matter is being investigated.

Police responded to a break and enter to a residence in Port Elgin on December 31 at 4:53 p.m. No point of entry could be identified but the person taking care of the residence is compiling a list of items believed to be stolen.
