5 story#5 Quick response likely prevented further damage

Quick response from the Saugeen Shores Fire Department is likely to have saved more boats than the seven that were destroyed in the early morning explosion and subsequent fire at the Port Elgin Harbour in the early morning hours of October 27.

4 story#4 Paralympic athlete Josh Cassidy to speak in Owen Sound

On December 10, 2015 we announced the upcoming appearance of Josh Cassidy at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

Josh Cassidy holds over 75 medals and was to speak of his experience overcoming failure to achieve success and how he defines true happiness!

3 story#3 It’s time to get down to business: Carver

Saugeen Shores’ own Jeff Carver won the Charlie Kelly Award at the Bruce Grey Simcoe Regional Tourism Conference, 2015 for his achievements in advancing the tourism industry.

Carver believes that if we want to succeed as a community, we need to dig in and “get down to business”.

2 story#2 Trolley service to launch next summer

Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce announced a new trolley service to launch in summer 2016.

The trolley will run a loop taking in both the downtowns and the beaches in Port Elgin and Southampton.

1 story#1 Winterhawks celebrate biggest fan

One of Saugeen Shores’ favourite residents, Vi Cottrill celebrated her 80th birthday in style at the Winterhawks game December 19, 2015.

Cottrill not only had the honour of doing the puck drop to start off the game against the Ripley Wolves but the Hawks presented Vi with a reclining chair so she could continue to watch in style and comfort!
