SS Police1 fullSaugeen Shores Police Service is investigating an assault that took place on December 1, 2015 in Port Elgin. The incident, where a 21 year old Saugeen Shores male was assaulted in the parking lot of Goderich Street restaurant, was reported to police on December 2. The victim was treated at hospital and released.

Two people have been arrested and are appearing in court December 3, an adult male and a youth from Arran Township, are charged and appearing in court on December 3rd. The accused cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Saugeen Shores Police received assistance from OPP Command Post Vehicle, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine Unit, OPP Negotiators and the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit in effecting the arrests.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no public safety concerns at this time.
