Members of the Saugeen Shores Fire Department could be found at various locations throughout Saugeen Shores on Saturday, November 21 collecting for their annual Salvation Army Food Drive.
Food items as well as cash donations were being collected at Walmart and Rowland's Independent Grocer in Port Elgin as well as Foodland in Southampton.
All tolled, over 1,900 pounds of food and over $1,700 in cash was donated to those in need in Saugeen Shores. Organizer, Lorne Currie said there has always been a great turnout and praised those who had given. “The people really support us with the food bank and it wouldn't be done without the help of the stores and the help of the guys giving up their time on a Saturday.”
