Bruce Power’s supplier partners have donated $50,000 to the new OSHaRE Food Depot in Owen Sound.
OSHaRE, a non-profit that provides meals to people and families in the region, cut the ribbon on its new food depot on May 30, allowing the organization to access and store more food and expand its efforts.
Maggie Tieman, Bruce Power's Director of Community and External Affairs said Bruce Power suppliers were proud to support the program. "Food insecurity is an ongoing challenge regionally and that they were thankful for Bruce Power's suppliers and the dedicatoin of OSHaRE.
OSHaRE Executive Director Colleen Trask Seaman said the 2,700 square foot depot aims to increase the organizations capacity to accept skids of fresh, frozen and non-perishable foods which will in turn be shared through the Grey Bruce Food Share program, assisting families in the two counties, adding it wouldn't be possible without contributions from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and partners like Bruce Power suppliers.
Thanks to this support, Trask Seaman said the program expansion "provides the stability and sustainability needed to support more individuals and families across our region."
