Bruce Power has opened applications for its annual post-secondary scholarship program, offering financial support to students from Bruce, Grey, and Huron counties who will attend a post-secondary institution during the 2026/27 school year.

The company said it will award a total of $50,000 in scholarships to 100 students this year. Each successful applicant will receive $500 to help cover costs related to their chosen field of study, including academic programs and skilled trades training.

“We are proud to give students in Bruce, Grey, and Huron a helping hand as they pursue their goals in education and the skilled trades,” said Maggie Tieman, Bruce Power’s Director of Community & External Affairs. “With the education and experience they’re gaining, the students of the Clean Energy Frontier are well on their way to having a big impact on the world and we’re happy to play a small role in their successes.”

Bruce Power has allocated 40 scholarships for students enrolled full-time in university degree programs and 35 for students attending community or technical colleges. Another 15 scholarships are reserved for self-identified diverse populations in any type of post-secondary study, including persons with disabilities, Indigenous students, and visible minorities. A further 10 scholarships will go to students with special considerations, such as mature students, Crown wards, first-generation students, and graduate students.

The scholarship application window is open until June 15 with recipients expected to be notified by July 15. Applicants must review the eligibility requirements and complete the online application form via the scholarship portal at www.brucepower.com/scholarships. Emailed applications will not be accepted.

In addition to the post-secondary scholarships, Bruce Power is providing $25,000 in combined elementary and secondary graduation awards across school boards in Bruce, Grey, and Huron. Two graduating students at each participating high school will be selected for the Women in Trades Award and the Future Innovator Award, each valued at $500.

The Women in Trades Award recognizes a female student enrolled in design and technology courses who is pursuing a career in the skilled trades. If no student meets that criterion, the award will go to a student pursuing engineering. The Future Innovator Award is intended for students with strong academic results and demonstrated promise in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. At the elementary level, schools will also receive $100 for a Grade 8 Science and Technology Award recognizing achievement, leadership, and diligence in science.

Bruce Power said it also offers several scholarship opportunities for local Indigenous youth, providing additional funding for Indigenous communities in the region. More information is available through on their Indigenous scholarships page.

All high school graduation and elementary school awards are administered by individual schools and do not require applications to Bruce Power.
