Drug and weapons charges

Three suspects are facing multiple charges following a joint drug trafficking investigation in Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

The Grey Bruce OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), working in partnership with the Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service, began the investigation in December 2025.

On April 30, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Rouse Road in South Bruce Peninsula. Members of the Grey Bruce CSCU, Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service, and the OPP Canine Unit arrested the three individuals.

A search warrant was subsequently executed on their motor vehicle, resulting in a small amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated potential street value of approximately $1000, along with approximately $1500 in Canadian currency.

Following the vehicle search, Grey Bruce CSCU executed a second search warrant at a residence located on Chick's Road in Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

As a result, three individuals were charged. A 33-year-old male and 33-year-old female from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation was charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. A 36-year-old male from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Probation Order.

All accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 11, 2026.
