Police across Grey and Bruce counties responded to a series of drug, theft, violent crime, and active public safety incidents across multiple jurisdictions in the last week.

SAUGEEN SHORES

Saugeen Shores Police Service responded to a single-vehicle crash on Bruce Road 3 in the early morning hours of April 13. Officers report attending the scene and locating an unoccupied, unplated vehicle with severe damage. A 19-year-old man from Owen Sound was later charged with five related offences including Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm and Fail to Report Accident.

HANOVER

A 24-year old Stratford man was arrested in Hanover following reports of an alleged theft at a convenience store on 10th Street in the morning of April 15. Later on April 15, Hanover Police Services officers were dispatched to a park on 7th Avenue with reports of a man behaving erratically, shouting and stabbing a table.

It was believed to be the same man. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with four offences including Theft Under $5000 and Possession of a Weapon with a Dangerous Purpose. He was held overnight before being released with conditions to appear in a Walkerton court at a later date.

WALKERTON

South Bruce OPP executed a search warrant on Orange Street in Walkerton on April 8. Police said they seized suspected cocaine, fentanyl, cash and offence-related property including scales and cell phones. Investigators estimated the drugs had a street value of approximately $264,000. Two Brockton-area residents were charged with trafficking-related offences.

OWEN SOUND

In Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS), officers arrested a 29-year-old man after an alleged robbery and aggravated assault in the city. Police said the accused also faces charges of theft and breach of probation. The incident was one of several enforcement actions highlighted by the OSPS this week.

Also in Owen Sound, police reported the seizure of drugs and weapons with one suspect taken into custody and facing trafficking-related charges.

SPRY

In Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate after Grey Bruce OPP officers executed a warrant on Spry Shore Road on April 14. Police said a person suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being bitten by a police service dog during the arrest and was taken to hospital. Charges have not been publicly detailed because of the SIU investigation.

GEORGIAN BLUFFS

Grey Bruce OPP are also asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects linked to a suspected theft from a vehicle and fraudulent credit card use in Georgian Bluffs. Police said personal items, including a credit card, were stolen overnight between April 4 and 5 from an unlocked vehicle in the Pottawatomi Village area. The card was later used to make unauthorized purchases.
