The Port Elgin Rotary Club has pledged $50,000 to the Huron Shores Hospice over the next five years. In a Huron Shores Hospice media release, the first $10,000 cheque was presented to Co-Chairs Carol Rencheck and Cheryl Cottrill, supporting Hearts for Hospice, the second phase of fundraising efforts to bring a second residential hospice bed to south Bruce County.

"We are pleased to support Huron Shores Hospice and the good work being done to provide residents of south Bruce County with quality end-of-life care," said Rotary President Steven Dennison. "This is a valuable service for our local community and we are proud to contribute to ensure this service is sustainable for our community and help with the efforts to bring a second bed into service.”

Located in Tiverton, Huron Shores Hospice is a charitable not-for-profit, volunteer-led, community-funded residential hospice, providing quality end-of-life care, at no cost, to residents of Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss and surrounding areas.

Plans are underway to add a second bed to better serve the residents of south Bruce in 2020. Currently no funding is available from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and all monies to support the hospice must be fundraised in the community.

“We are so thankful for this tremendous show of support from the Port Elgin Rotary Club," said Carol Rencheck, Co-Chair of the Huron Shores Hospice Board of Directors. "This donation will go a long way to ensure our sustainability over the next five years and contribute to our fundraising efforts for a second bed to be added in 2020," she said.

"This is a significant donation to our community hospice and we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club for their generosity and their show of support for the work we are doing at Huron Shores Hospice,” added Rencheck.
