Judy Rich has been named Honourary Chair for Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's 2018-19 Light the Way campaign.

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation has a new Honourary Chair for the 2018-19 Light the Way campaign.

Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson said Saugeen Shores Barrister and Solicitor Judy Rich will lead the way as the Foundation team takes on the task of helping to raise $150,000 for new equipment for Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton.

Kidson said Rich is no stranger to the Foundation, having volunteered her time behind the scenes during the annual Light the Way Radiothon on 98 The Beach. "Judy recognizes the need to raise cash annually to buy much needed equipment for the hospital so it may better serve the health needs of the Saugeen Shores region,” she said.

Rich lives in Port Elgin and has had a law practice in Southampton for the past five years, helping people with real estate law, wills and powers of attorney, estate administration and corporate law for the past five years.

Rich said she looks forward to working with the community and help achieve the $150,000 fundraising goal.

“I chose to be the Honourary Chair of the Light the Way fundraising campaign because our Southampton Hospital touches the lives of every single person in this community," said Rich, adding that local access to care is important, especially when minutes may matter. "We need to feel secure in our community with the knowledge that quality medical service, quality equipment and a caring serving staff is available in our time of need,” she added.

Foundation Chair Jim Barbour said work on the 2018-19 campaign has been going on for some time now and he looks forward to its success.

The Light the Way campaign will officially get underway on Monday, November 12 and the Radiothon will take place December 13 from 6am to 6pm.
