On Sunday, May 6, eight communities in Grey and Bruce counties, including Saugeen Shores, will join thousands of people across the country as they come together to raise funds and awareness for hospice palliative care programs and services.
Organizers said the Chapman House – Grey Bruce Residential Hospice (GBRH) is excited to be making use of the area’s stunning hiking trails in hosting the Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice and are inviting families, individuals, teams, co-workers, and virtual virtual hikers to participate.
The 2018 Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice will be held at 1 p.m. at the following locations:
Saugeen Shores - Port Elgin Pavillion-Main Beach
Markdale - Grey Gables
Durham - Durham Town Hall
Hanover - Pavillion Park
Brockton - Agricultural Society Building #2 / Walkerton
Owen Sound - Harrison Park Pavilion
Meaford - Harbour Pavilion
Town Of The Blue Mountains - Thornbury Town Offices
While the Hike is a national event, due to the generous financial national support 100 percent of the funds raised in Grey Bruce will remain in Grey Bruce and will be used to continue to provide compassionate care to residents and their families.
The hospice palliative care services provided by Chapman House are at least 50 percent funded by charitable donations which make this annual fundraiser a key component to ensuring the future of our community hospices. The money raised through the Hike provides physical, emotional and social assistance to Grey Bruce residents, their families and loved ones. Grey Bruce Residential Hospice is working toward ensuring that more Canadians, receive the end-of-life care they wish for.
The Grey Bruce Hike for Hospice planning committee have set a goal of raising $100,000 in 2018 with business and professional sponsorship opportunities still available.
