The new downtown location for Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest was approved September 14, following a delegation presented by the Pumpkinfest Committees at the September 12 Saugeen Shores Committee of Whole meeting.

The information presented to Saugeen Shores Council by Committee Member, Connie Barker and Chair, Brad Scott was well received and resulted in no objections to the proposed road closures that would be in effect during the weekend festival October 1 and 2.

“We are excited and amazed at all of the much-needed support that the community has given us as we approach our re-vamped festival,” said Pumpkinfest Coordinator, Mandy Sebok, September 20.

There will be a licensed Pumpkinfest Fundraiser taking place on Saturday, October 1, behind the Queen’s Bar and Grill, on the Bruce Telecom Entertainment stage. Country Rock band Dry County and the Bob Robinson Band, which includes three members of Sons of Perry, will be taking the entertainment stage underneath the big tent after 8 p.m. during the first night of the two-day festival.

Tickets for the fundraiser will be $10 at the door and will be also be available at the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce beginning September 23.

Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce President and Pumpkinfest Committee Member, Pier Donnini said, “We’re looking to have fun. We’re looking for another event that draws a different demographic that typically doesn't go to Pumpkinfest, or doesn't go enough to Pumpkinfest,” said Donnini.

He continued, “We have lowered the price to make it more accessible for everybody, so we have to find other ways to plug our budget, and this fundraiser is one of the ways.”

Tickets are currently on sale for the two day festival at the Southampton information centre, located in the Southampton Town Hall; and at Pumpkinfest Headquarters in Port Elgin. Tickets are $5 for anyone over the age of 5.

Please be advised that the previously-announced Haunted House of Horrors location for Bruce County Playhouse has been moved from the Maple Hall location to the former Baptist Church on Bricker Street.
