The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is bringing back the wildly popular Adventure Talks series. The five-part speaking series which runs every other Wednesday at the Museum in the Bruce Power Theatre has completely sold out in years past. In 2017, the theme is “Canadians Helping Others Around The World” and will feature professionals who travel internationally to offer aid and humanitarian work around the globe.

The series kicks off on February 22 at 10 a.m. with Ashima Dhingra, Director of Projects Abroad, an organization which encourages travellers to volunteer for worthwhile work in developing countries. Projects Abroad has created a multi-national community with a passion to serve, to learn, to understand, to teach, to inspire and to be inspired.

The second installment of the series on March 8 features Kaylee Perez, Refugee Sponsorship Associate with Mennonite Central Committee, who will be speaking on her work as a refugee advocate and her help in the aid and relocation of Middle Eastern refugees.

“The theme for this year’s Adventure Talks is ‘Canadians Helping Others Around the World,’” says Adrienne Mason, Program Coordinator. “In the face of many global catastrophes and hardships, what better response can we have than to reach out and support each other? This lecture series will provide an opportunity to learn about many organizations with projects all across the globe that have made ‘helping’ their mandate.”

The Adventure Talks series continues through April 19 and features representatives from organizations such as the Stephen Lewis Foundation (Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign), Mercy Ships (medical professionals who operate world-wide from ship-hospitals) and the Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child).

The talks begin at 10 a.m. and the doors open at 9.30 a.m. for coffee and refreshments.

Tickets are available for the entire series. For members the cost is $30 plus HST or $45 plus HST for general admission.

Tickets for individual lectures, if available, are $8 plus HST for members or $12 plus HST general admission.

The Adventure Talks series is proudly presented by Hampton Court Comfortable Retirement Living.
