With a theme of “Parade of Lights” and over 40 floats, the 2018 Port Elgin Santa Claus Parade did not disappoint as Goderich Street was illuminated from Market Street south to Ivings Drive November 24.

Despite a light rain, hundreds of people lined the downtown corridor to watch as local businesses, community organizations and dignitaries handed out festive treats to excited children and wished onlookers a happy holiday season.

Thorncrest Outfitters collected 430.5 lbs of food for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

And of course, having travelled all the way from the North Pole and with a 'Ho, Ho, Ho!', the star of the show Santa Claus wished everyone a “Merry Christmas!”

Santa returns to Saugeen Shores on Friday, November 30 when he will take part in Southampton’s parade that gets underway at 7 p.m.

Legion

The Legion's Colour Guard led the parade as it headed south down Goderich Street in downtown Port Elgin.

Santa

All the way from the North Pole, Santa took time away from his busy schedule to ring in the holiday season for the Port Elgin Christmas parade November 24.

Pipers

The Loch Lomond Pipe Band laid the soundtrack as it followed the Legion's Colour Guard in Port Elgin November 24.

Food Drive

As is tradition, many spectators had non-perishable food items at the ready to fill Thorncrest Outfitters' Big Canoe for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Balloons

There were smiles on the faces of all ages as The Main Events's always-unique balloon creations danced their way along the downtown corridor.

Cadets

The 340 Squadron Port Elgin Air Cadets marched their way down Goderich Street.

Chambettes

Sat on the shores of a miniature and mobile Chantry Island, the Chantry Island Cham-bettes waved to parade spectators.

SMHF

Thing 1 and Thing 2, a.k.a Tracy Murray and Sally Kidson, 'lit' the way for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation November 24.

Liv A Little

Sitting next to Liv-A-Little Foundation's iconic purple dinosaur was Olivia Little, waving to parade onlookers.

Fire Department

You can always count on the Saugeen Shores Fire Department to be well represented in the Port Elgin Santa Claus Parade.

Home Hardware

The Port Elgin Home Hardware elves brought the North Pole to Port Elgin on their brightly lit float.

Marine Heritage

The Southampton Propeller Club and Marine Heritage Society floated their way down Goderich Street in the Port Elgin Santa Claus Parade.

Rowlands

A couple of brightly lit polar bears led the way for Rowland's Independent Grocers.

SBDance

Dancers from the SB Dance Academy entertained the crowds as they made their way through the downtown.

Shriners

The Shriners clowns get the attention of the children as they drive along Goderich Street.

Trolley

Saugeen Shores Council and Staff wished the community, 'Happy holidays' from on and around the SS Trolley.

Unleash the pawsative

Unleash the Pawsitive owner Melissa MacKinnon walks with one of her dogs as she and her team wished everyone a “Merry Woofmas!”

OPG

OPG's snowmen were dancing on their float and handing out festive treats to children.
