The Breakers Swim Team had a very successful first swim meet of the 2018/2019 competitive swim season at the Gus Ryder Memorial Cup hosted by the Lakeshore Swim Team in the Etobicoke Olympium. Although small in number, Breakers made their presence known.

Kenzie Bourassa, the only junior Breaker swimming at the meet, achieved five personal best times. This was highlighted by Kenzie knocking off over six seconds in each of her 50m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle races.

Liam Fitzgerald achieved personal best times in his 50m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle. Liam earned gold medals in the 15 and Over Male 200m Individual Medley and 200m Backstroke as well as bronze medal in the 15 and Over Male 200m Freestyle.

Jayson Horseman took a combined total of 64.93 seconds off his personal best times including almost 31 seconds off his 800m Freestyle. Jayson stood at the podium six times over the weekend earning silver medals in the 15 and Over Male 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke and 800m Freestyle as well as bronze medals in the 15 and Over Male 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke.

Hannah Kent dropped over 11 seconds off her personal best time and earned a gold medal in the 13 and 14 Female 200m Backstroke. Hannah also achieved personal best times in six of her other seven races dropping a total of 65.68 seconds. Hannah dropped an amazing 28 seconds in her 400m Individual Medley.

Brady Phillips earned a gold medal in the 13 and 14 Male 200m Individual Medley, a silver medal in the 13 and 14 Male 50m Backstroke and a bronze medal in the 13 and 14 Male 50m Breaststroke.

Michelle Wang stood on the podium for a silver medal in the 13 and 14 Female 200m Breaststroke and in achieving this medal improved her time by an impressive 49.14 seconds. Michelle achieved personal best times in six of her seven other races for a combined improvement of 63.77 seconds.
