Kids got to honk and explore their way through many trucks and vehicles while having the opportunity to hang out with a special caped crusader at the Kin Club of Saugeen Shores’ third annual Touch a Truck event, at Port Elgin’s Main Beach August 20.

From emergency vehicles, farm equipment and even Bruce Power’s light armoured vehicle, there was tons to touch and see.

Kin Club Event Coordinator Dave Mensher said he was pretty excited about learning what the inside of a transport sleeper-cab looked like, as well as the fact that Batman had made an appearance. He hoped to persuade the Gotham hero for a tour in his Bat Mobile but hadn’t been successful as of press time.

Proceeds from last year’s Touch a Truck event went toward a World War I exhibit at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre. Mensher said this year’s proceeds will be going towards the Canada 150th celebration in Southampton.

Mensher said that everyone at the event was having fun. “It’s been great, this community is very supportive, everybody here helped us out, and they’re always eager to provide trucks.”

He said they added a few new attractions such as face painting by the Main Event, a bouncy castle, mini-golf and a giant Connect 4 game, provided by All in 1 Events and Inflatables.
