Chamber BAH and IotaHub Staff

A festive holiday atmosphere could be found Wednesday evening at The Walker House in Southampton as close to 100 people attended the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours Christmas Social co-hosted by The Walker House and Royal LePage D.C. Johnston Realty.

Prime Rib and Yorkshire Puddings, among other tasty treats, were being served to those in attendance; with door prizes from several local businesses available to be won and Bruce Telecom offering the chance for individuals and company groups to have their Christmas Greetings recorded by the Christmas tree.

People were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to put under the tree for the Iota Phi Christmas Toy Drive and cash donations were also accepted.

Angela Hupalo from the Iota Phi Toy Drive was collecting toys later in the evening and said there are a total of 15 toy boxes placed around Saugeen Shores into which toys can be donated, including Rowland's Independent Grocer, Giant Tiger, Walmart, 98 The Beach, Saugeen Shores Police Services, Southampton Post Office, Martin's Home Hardware and the Port Elgin Legion.

The boxes will be pulled on Friday, December 11 and any donations will be distributed by the Salvation Army to families on December 17.

“Right now we have 95 children that we will help give a Merry Christmas to and about 45 families,” said Hupalo, adding that the families are all from Saugeen Shores. “It's such a wonderful thing and the generosity of our community is just amazing.”

The Chamber's General Meeting and Election of Chamber Officers followed the Christmas Social.
