Three Sheets Brewing is now open and fully operational in their new location at the north end of Port Elgin and on Thursday, June 30 owners, staff and dignitaries held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate.

Wismer House and Three Sheets owner Jeff Carver said they weren't able to keep up with the demand at their previous spot and were having to contract out some of their production to other breweries.

Initially they launched their product in December 2019 and opened a much smaller brewery to the public in January 2020. That location is attached to the Wismer House and will remain operational for some of their seasonal and small batch production.

"Initially I didn't anticipate how well the beer was going to be received," said Carver June 30. "I knew we had a good product and a good brand and that all the pieces were there but I guess I didn't think it was going to take off that way," he said.

He and his business partner, Cynthia Auer sat down with their brewmaster, Curt Thomas and asked if he'd like to jump on board in an ownership capacity. "So we brought him in as a partner," said Carver.

"It's a dream come true for me," said Thomas. "I started doing this seven and a half years ago in the basement of my house." Thomas added that he had previously worked at Maclean's Ales in Hanover while working at Three Sheets part time and eventually came on as a partner in Three Sheets.

Thomas said that at their previous location they could produce 750 to 800 litres at a time. "Here, I can do up to 2,800 litres at a time," he said.

Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau said Carver is "one of the busiest guys" in Saugeen Shores. "He's got a great team and a great facility and he's going to have huge success," Charbonneau said.

You can find Three Sheets Brewing, complete with outdoor patio and indoor tasting area, at the north end of Port Elgin, 1246 Goderich Street (Highway 21).
