Unique balloon creations and so much more

If you're looking for something unique for your party or celebration or help with event planning, stop by The Main Event.

Owner and Event Facilitator, Angela Albright, originally from the Kincardine area has lived in Saugeen Shores for the last 15 years and will open the doors of her retail location in the Ralph's Plaza, the former H&R Block, on Thursday, just in time for Valentine's Day.

She has already created some unique Valentine balloon creations. “Valentine's Day is the biggest balloon day of the year,” Albright explained.

In addition to balloons, the store will offer cards, gift bags, party supplies and much more. “I'm looking for things that are a little more fun, a little more unique,” said Albright. “It's all about fun, when it comes to a party you want fun and that's what my plan is, this place is going to be fun.”

FlowerAlbright started The Main Event just over two years ago. “I started out thinking event planning and I realized that there was a little bit of a need for entertainment, face painting and I started doing balloon twisting as well and that's actually what got me into the balloons,” she said, adding that decor items such as wedding arches and table centre pieces followed. “I kept doing what people wanted. I became what they wanted. That's what led me here,” said Albright.

“I want to make this easy for people. I want everyone to have a great time celebrating what they want to celebrate and to make it as easy as possible,” said Albright. “People need to have fun and people need to celebrate.” She continued, “I don't want to have the same things that you can get everywhere else.”

If Albright gets a theme request, she does what she can to accommodate. “If it exists I can get it,” she said, adding that through balloon twisting, she can create it if it doesn't already exist.

“The Balloon twisting is unusual, people don't even know to ask about it, they don't know to search for it, they don't know if anyone is doing it in the area.”

Albright said most people don't realize that regular balloons are compostable. “They're made out of latex, which is made out of tree sap so you can put them in your compost bin, they're biodegradable.”

Face painting is something else The Main Event offers, whether for small private children's parties or larger events such as the Marine Heritage Festival, which Albright was a part of last year and will be again this year. She is also working on a bubble show.

Smaller party rental items are available as well such as speakers, tables and chairs and even lazer tag guns. Albright has also rented a photo booth to local events. “I did the prom last year,” she said. “I can make any kind of background and put them in any sort of figuration. They go over so well at weddings.”

Albright is pleased she now has a storefront. “There's a lot of things I do and now I can showcase them.”
