The rain that was forecast for Saturday held off as families attended the Egg-Stravaganza Easter egg hunt put on by the Liv-A-Little Foundation and Saugeen Shores Kin Club April 20 at the Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.
Over 320 tickets were sold for the eighth annual Easter event, designed to raise funds and awareness for cystinosis research, a rare metabolic disease that affects just 75 children and young adults in Canada. Among them, Olivia Little Saugeen Shores.
Thousands of plastic eggs were scattered over a fairway at Saugeen Golf as children and their families lined up to collect as many as they could in their baskets. “They trade in their eggs and there's chocolate and there's bubbles and there's all sorts of stuff donated by random businesses,” explained Olivia's mom and Liv-A-Little President Erin Little.
In addition to the Easter egg hunt, there was plenty of other Easter fun and activities on offer from colouring and face painting to outdoor games such as bunny hop and spoon races.
Little said it was a great turnout. “Lots of new families, lots of families that have been with us since the beginning.”
