Mark your calendars for the Saturday of Family Day weekend because the infamous "snow mountain" is set to return for the third annual Snow Fest family fun event in downtown Port Elgin.

Event organizer Steff Allen said she is looking forward to seeing what public works staff comes up with for a snow slide design. "Last year they made some great changes to the original design," she said. "It was so fun to see them bring their families out for the day and talk about how they think they can improve on it even more."

Keeping with tradition, Snow Fest 3.0 promises a bonfire, s'mores, giant bubbles, a snow painting station, and hot chocolate from local vendors.

"And of course pick up road hockey all day long," said Allen.

"It's also fun to watch the heavy equipment bring in the snow," added Allen. "If you're around town the day before, there's always a safe area where you can check out the dumpers and diggers," she said.

Snow Fest 3.0 is set to take place on Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Coulter Parkette, Green Street at Goderich Street in downtown Port Elgin. Those planning to attend are reminded that personal sleds are not permitted on the snow hill, crazy carpets will be provided.
