The Shoreline Artists know a thing or to about how to put on a show as was evident at their annual Art on the Fence event August 6 at Southampton’s Chantry Breezes.

The event was originally scheduled for August 5 but windy and wet weather caused it to move to its rain date on August 6 with crowds still flocking to speak with the 20 artists in attendance and peruse their work.

The Shoreline Artists are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, said President Debbie James at the show and all the Artists are very enthusiastic in what they do. “We have wood tuners, we have carvers, we have potters, painters, jewellers, so it’s a varied group and lots of fun,” said James.

For their 30th year, James said they considered having a 30th anniversary celebration but with the celebrations for Canada’s 150th and the Southampton Art Gallery’s 60th they decided to have a “big party amongst themselves” at the end of summer.

In addition to their Art on the Fence event, the Shoreline Artists host a Studio Tour in July and their signature show in the Rotary Hall at the Plex Pumpkinfest weekend.
