A new playful summer exhibit opened at Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre May 19 with museum members getting a sneak peek May 18.
“Toys: The Inside Story” is on loan from Montshire Museum of Science in Vermont and is open through Labour Day. “Toys” features 12 hand-on stations that show the intricacies behind classics such as Jack in the Box, Etch A Sketch® and Elmo®. Kids and kids at heart will be able to interact with Gears at Play, illustrating the effect of gear ratios while learning how to spin ballerinas and a carousel and conquer the Jeepers Peepers challenge at the pulley table which may take a little experimentation to solve.
During the sneak peek members were treated to pizza from Boston Pizza and played with balloons from The Main Event in Port Elgin.
Exhibit sponsors are 101.7 The One and Ontario Power Generation who sponsored the exhibit by way of a $10,000 donation.
Emcee for the sneak peek was 9 year old Corbin Glover who held his own with other speakers and cut the ceremonial skipping rope with OPG’s Cynthia Lam.
