For fans of Port Elgin author Moko Heathers, the wait for her new book has come to an end. Heathers released The Kilted Lover in February 2014, her first erotic novel; and now, the book’s sequel, Kilty Pleasure, is currently available on Kindle and ebook.

“The paperbacks are on pre-order so they'll be available soon and I will have some in the shop, fingers crossed, in a couple of weeks,” said Heathers, who also owns Belle of the Boudoir Fine Lingerie Boutique in downtown in Port Elgin.

The story is set in New York and follows main protagonist, Dylan, a successful magazine editor, in a first-person narrative. Heathers said that the first book really focused on Dylan. “What she does for a living, where she lives, her friendships...the struggles she goes through with friends, family, job; and of course it's an erotic novel so there is sex involved,” she said, adding that it is also a love story and has a lot of humour in it. “The build up of the first book was really to let people know that character.”

Heathers explained that the kilt connection in both titles is in reference to Miles, a Scotsman for whom Dylan falls. “She's always had a thing for accents.”

She said that it was scarier for her writing the second book. “You don't know what people took from the first one and want more of.” Heathers explained that in the sequel she develops the main character and her friends more. “You get to know more about [Dylan] and some of the characters in the book. You get to see her more in depth; and with her love life too.”

Heathers said that she loves everything to do with the arts; from music to painting, drama to graphic design; but always wanted to write, listing several authors who have influenced her writing. “I worship their way with words,” she said. “From Stephen King, Jane Austen, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien and Anne Rice to Christina Lauren and Sylvia Day to Jim Gaffigan, and Victoria Pratt,” she said.

“For me, writing is a fantastic creative outlet that I am very passionate about; I leave a little piece of me on each page,” said Heathers, who wants her readers to be excited, entertained, and wanting for more. “My words paint a peculiar perspective or picture from personal experiences, dreams, experiences of family and friends.”

Heathers has no current plans for a third book in the series but has been receiving positive feedback. “People are loving the characters and they want another one, so I’ll just have to see,” said Heathers. “I do have several other projects that I have on the go, other styles of books, not just erotic.”

Heathers said that she really appreciates all the support she has had from her family and friends as well as the community and said she loved writing the books. “Dylan has been such a magnificent character,” she said. “She entertains me and the truth is, she keeps me focused on my own future. I am excited for my audience to read my new naughty novel and I hope they enjoy every erotic morsel.”

Heathers’ new book is available on Amazon and Smashwords.
