The battle continues October 22, as 12 competitors - and counting - will face-off in an epic Lip Sync Battle at Lakeshore Recreation.

The final week before contestants hit the stage can be a busy one with make-up tests, last minute fittings and the finalizing of choreographed routines.

Contestant Valerie Morano participated in the inaugural Lip Sync Battle in May, has been working extra hard and is ready for her time to shine. “I practise daily in a quiet space to really keep my focus and get rid of all possible distractions that could throw me off my lip sync game,” said Morano.

“After being brushed aside by the judges last time, I felt I really needed to step up my game so really it’s just a challenge against myself,” said Morano who admitted that she's going for a personal Lip Sync best this time around.

Second time competitor Lori Ashton said the seamstress is still working on costumes for herself and partner Peggy Clazie. Ashton admitted that they have been in practice mode for quite some time. “We actually hired a professional dance coach, choreographer who, I must say, has been a huge help,” said Ashton.

First time competitor Emily Paulin said that she has started her choreography but admitted that it does need a little bit more work. Every day before the “battle” she will be working on her dance moves. Paulin admitted that she is a competitive person but the glory of potentially winning the battle isn’t the reason she wanted to take part. “It's an amazing opportunity to help raise money and awareness for families in our community. It is also a great time for people to come out and have a good laugh,” said Paulin.

Lakeshore Recreation along with Caitlyn Cobean's Community Crusaders (CCCC) will play host at the evening affair which will raise money for the Crusaders’ in affiliation with the Tara Boom Houston Children's Foundation (TBHCF), whose mission is to improve the lives of families whose children have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.

Tickets for the event are $10 and last-minute performers are still welcome to join. Anyone interested in joining the battle is asked to contact defending Lip Sync champion Karen Fehr by phone at 519-386-8171 or by e-mail at fehrfitness@gmail.com.

Fehr along with her partner Colin Morano took the title at the inaugural Lip Sync Battle in May and are ready to defend the title, all the while raising money for a good cause, helping families in the area.

“Colin and I have worked on our choreography a little bit but it needs to be finely tuned,” said Fehr, admitting that neither herself or Colin are very good dancers, but adds that that’s what makes it fun to watch. “We also have a little surprise up our sleeve...but you'll have to come if you want to find out what it is.”
