“This successful concert series has been everything we hoped for,” said Mary Sylver, Coordinator from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Southampton. “We not only got to know our neighbouring church but the series certainly managed to build bridges between the native and non native community. In fact it so successful everyone wanted the breaks at the concerts to be extended so they could visit longer - a rare thing today when folks have such busy lives.”

The goal of the concert series was to collectively explore roots and with performances from Nashville’s Arvel Bird, ‘the celtic Indian’ as well as 18 fiddlers at the front of the tiny Saugeen Wesley United Church, among others, they did just that.

It was “totally amazing,” said Lorraine Kewaquom, one of the so-called ‘church ladies’ from Saugeen Wesley United. “Our church is celebrating our 125 year Anniversary this year and it was really great to see our little church come alive with the pews filled and such quality sound coming from the open windows of the church.”

With one more performance yet to come, music lovers still have a chance to enjoy some live music with Southampton’s own Jazz aficionado, Mike Grace in Mateo on Saturday, October 1 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Southampton.

Concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 in advance or $20.00 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Bayberry’s, Vincent Jewellers and South Stables in Southampton; and Ralph’s Keepsakes and Memories, Blackboard Sound and Rabbit Dash in Port Elgin.
