WFTA logo 560The Friends of MacGregor Point Park are happy to announce the return of the Wild for the Arts Festival happening September 17 and 18. This popular festival aims to celebrate nature as a source of creative inspiration.

The Festival Grounds have moved to the Nipissing Campground at the newly electrified campsites in the Fox Way Loop. Admission to the park and campsite tour and other activities is free both days.

Celebrating the arts in a natural setting, the festival gives artists of all disciplines the opportunity to share, display and sell their work in an outdoor environment surrounded by MacGregor Point’s beauty and landscape.

Visual arts include paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture; stained glass, decorative art, pottery, jewelry, quilting, weaving, and woodworking. Written works include poetry as well as fiction and non-fiction.

The festival will also feature children’s storytelling, children’s activities, interpretive programs and an Artist’s Adventure Trail where artists will have the opportunity to offer drop-in workshops.

A barbecue lunch will be served on both days. Saturday at noon, live on the festival’s performance stage, enjoy the upbeat jazz and blues of Mid-Town Cross. On Saturday evening enjoy May Contain Nuts as they cover golden oldies that gets the audience dancing and singing along. Then on Sunday afternoon the classical woodwind sounds of the Southwinds Quintet will entertain over lunch hour.

Sandcastle Theatre Group will also be on hand offering theatre workshops.

The popular Campsite Studio Tour, where visitors can appreciate the arts in a natural setting, is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
