brushes560In celebration of Bruce County’s Sesquicentennial in 2017, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) is pleased to announce a unique, juried art show.

“Bruce Roots” is open to all artists residing in Bruce County and artists are encouraged to create and submit original two-dimensional pieces that represent Bruce County as it celebrates 150 years.

The exhibit is scheduled to open January 3 and will run through April 30. The show, which will see three winning entries paid a pre-set prize value for the work(s) is being held in partnership with the Southampton Art School.

A condition of entry is that the winning pieces will become property of the County and be part of Bruce County’s Art Bank.

First prize is $1,400, second is $950, third is $650 and there will be three honourable mentions.

“It’s been several years since the BCM&CC has hosted a juried show and we are thrilled to be bringing the show back as part of the celebrations for Bruce County’s 150,” said Bruce County Museum Director, Cathy McGirr.

Southampton Arts Centre Gallery Director, April Patry said, "The Southampton Arts Centre is excited to play a role in presenting 'Bruce Roots', celebrating a milestone for an endless source of artistic inspiration, the Bruce County landscape.”

Entries will be accepted at BCM&CC December 2 and 3. Opening reception will be held January 7.
