Tickets for the second annual Lake Huron Children's Festival, taking place at the Plex in Port Elgin on Saturday, July 9, will go on sale at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 16. All funds raised are going to help the Saugeen Shores Splash Pad project.

Last year's festival was a huge success, raising $12,000 for the project and Amy Shute of the Lake Huron Children's Festival committee said this year they are aiming to raise at least $15,000.

One of the main attractions at the festival this year is Splash'N Boots. Three time Canadian Children's Music Group of the Year winners, Splash’N Boots appear daily on Treehouse television and have been JUNO nominees for the past three years. “They're pretty big and they sell out all across Canada,” said Shute, adding that they’re “an extremely interactive, fun show for kids and parents alike.”

“It's not like a sit down and listen to the music show, it's a real get-up-and-on-your-feet,” said Shute.

Another big attraction for children will be Paw Patrol, from Nickelodeon TV's popular animated children's show, who will be making an appearance at the festival.

Tickets are limited. “The concert's going to be inside and we'll have room for just under 1,000 people,” said Shute, adding that as well as regular tickets there will also be VIP tickets available which will allow people to attend a meet and greet with Splash'N Boots and the Paw Patrol characters after the concert.

“Only 200 [VIP tickets] are available,” explained Shute. “You can see Splash'N Boots, meet them, get your picture as well as Paw Patrol.”

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with the Splash'N Boots concert from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

There's also a whole host of other activities that will be happening outside including a petting zoo, a bouncy wonderland and face painting. Paw Patrol are also expected to be wandering around outside.

“There's different interactive shows and activities for the kids to do,” said Shute. “Build your own gummy pops and Wee Wigglers are coming to do some stuff.”

Ticket prices include all activities, "even popcorn and cotton candy,” said Shute, who explained that the Port Elgin & District Lions Club will also be running a barbeque at the event, which will be an extra cost but the funds will go towards the Splash Pad.

Tickets to the festival are $25 for a regular ticket and $35 for a VIP ticket with children 12 months and under free. Tickets will be available to purchase online at Eventbrite Saturday morning.
