fullHalloween themed thrills await both young and young at heart this October at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre. Night at the Museum return for kids 8 to 12 on October 24. This exclusive sleepover is proudly presented by Giant Tiger, Port Elgin and runs from 8 pm to 8am the next morning.

The night’s events will unfold upon arrival, with the promise of ghoulish fun and squeals of delight. Creepy crafts, wacky experiments and plenty of treats will keep smiles on faces long after the alarm goes off at 8 am Sunday morning. Costumes strongly encouraged!

Also new this year, children will gather to hear a live reading of “Ghoul’s Gold: The Mystery of the Chantry Island Treasure” with author Doug Archer. Copies of the book are available for purchase in the Museum Gift Shop.

“This event is so much fun every year,” said Mike Berry, Manager of Giant Tiger, Port Elgin. “The costumes are always incredible and we have as much fun as the kids when we show up.”

Pre-registration and prepayment for this event is required, with limited tickets available now. Snacks, food, beverages and breakfast will be supplied.

And for the more mature crowd, BCM&CC is pleased to present a large screen viewing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in the Bruce Power Theatre on October 30 at 9 pm.

The 1975 film centers on a young engaged couple, whose car breaks down in the rain near a castle where they seek a telephone to call for help. The castle is occupied by strangers in elaborate costumes celebrating an annual convention. They discover the head of the house is Frank N., an apparent mad scientist who actually is an alien cross-dresser who creates a living muscle man in his laboratory. The couple is seduced separately by the mad scientist and eventually released by the servants who take control.

Costumes and dancing are strongly encouraged. “We want people to embrace this event with all of the flair that comes with thoughts of the iconic musical comedy horror flick,” said BCM&CC Program Coordinator Nancy White.

Limited, general seating tickets for this special performance are available in advance and at the door, and include appetizers, a cash bar and even a gift bag containing props to help attendees enjoy the show the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.
