Fans of comics, collectibles, gaming and pop culture will gather in Southampton when Bruce County Comicon returns to the Coliseum and Annex on July 11.
The event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, is expected to bring together more than 150 vendors from across Ontario, offering a wide range of comic books, trading cards, action figures, vintage toys, artwork, video games and other collectibles.
Organizers say the family-friendly event will offer something for fans of all ages, from long-time collectors to those simply looking for a fun day out. Admission is $5, with children 12 and under admitted free.
This year's celebrity guests are Pat Mastroianni, best known for playing Joey Jeremiah on the iconic series Degrassi High and Degrassi: The Next Generation, helping to define generations of Canadian television. Actor Matthew G. Taylor, known for his role as Nemesis in Resident Evil as well as appearances in See, The Umbrella Academy, Exit Wounds, Detroit Rock City and The Strain will also be on hand to meet fans.
In addition visitors will be able to experience an interactive Jurassic Park-style exhibit featuring Sierra the Utahraptor, a live animatronic dinosaur, with hourly demonstrations and photo opportunities planned throughout the day.
Other highlights include a steampunk showcase by Cogs & Clockwork, Halo cosplayers from the 405th Infantry Division and a gaming zone featuring both modern and retro consoles.
The first 100 guests in line will receive a free VIP shopping bag filled with collectibles, limited edition items, sponsor swag and other surprises.
An ATM will be available on site and while most vendors are expected to accept several forms of payment, organizers say cash is recommended.
