Human Trafficking Awareness Day was officially recognized in 2021 and this year the South Bruce OPP are hosting community town hall events in hopes of educating the public on the urgent need for support, protection and prevention.

In a recent media release, South Bruce OPP said that 58% of all reported human trafficking cases in Canada happen in Ontario and that 25% of known victims are under the age of 18.

"Human trafficking remains one of the fastest-growing crimes in Canada," the release said.

The first event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 from 6:30 to 9pm at the Davidson Centre, 601 Durham Street in Kincardine.

And on the following Wednesday, March 11, again from 6:30 to 9pm at the Walkerton Arena, 290 Durham Street in Walkerton.

Doors open at 6pm for both events.
