Theft from Hanover pharmacy could be part of a larger crime ring

Hanover Police Services have reported an alleged theft from a local pharmacy on February 5 that may be linked to a larger crime group. Shortly after 2pm police responded to a theft in progress on 10th Street where a male suspect had been confronted by staff about not paying for items and fled on foot. The alleged suspect got into a vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. It was later located by West Grey Police Service who attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle is reported to have fled, again at a high rate of speed.

The officer terminated the pursuit and the vehicle is reported to have lost control and entered a ditch near Allan Park on Grey Road 4.

A 30-year-old male was taken into custody by West Grey Police and charged with offences related to the pursuit before being transferred to the Hanover Police Service.

Merchandise from the Hanover pharmacy as well as one other location valued at approximately $4,000 was recovered and an electronic anti-theft alarm device was also seized.

The 30-year-old, currently residing in Richmond Hill, faces additional charges relating to a Hanover investigation of Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property, and Unlawful Use of a Computer.
