The Town of Saugeen Shores is aiming to streamline the development of housing through the launch of its Ready-to-Build Housing Designs.

The designs cover a range of housing needs, from multigenerational to downsizing and rental income, and were developed in collaboration with Invizij Architects and Tim Welch Consulting. They offer four pre-reviewed ARU designs as well as a duplex, triplex, and fourplex "while promoting sustainable development and community vibrancy," read a recent media release from the Town. All options comply with the Ontario Building Code as well as local zoning regulations.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau said the Town is making it easier and more affordable for residents to unlock the potential of their property "while contributing to a growing and diverse housing landscape."

"This initiative provides a head start by streamlining the planning review process and reducing costs," said Charbonneau.

The initiative was funded through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) and Bruce Power's SEED Funding program and is one of eight strategic initiatives under the Town's broader HAF plan.
