The three accused in the homicide investigation of Owen Sound restauranteur have been returned to Canada to face trial.
In the evening of August 17, 2023 Owen Sound's Sharif Rahman, 44 years old, was assaulted outside his downtown restaurant on 2nd Avenue East. He died a week later in hospital, on August 24.
After a lengthy investigation it was determined that the suspects had fled the country, leading the Ontario Provincial Police and the Owen Sound Police Service to work with international partners to coordinate overseas arrests. As a result Police Scotland arrested 24-year-old Robert Evans and 47-year-old Robert Busby Evans in Edinburgh on July 30, 2024, and 54-year-old Barry Evans in Dalkeith on October 29, 2024.
The accused are expected to appear in court today, December 12, 2025.
