The Breakers Swim Team has donated $195,000 toward electronic pool timing equipment for the the future Aquatic and Wellness Centre (AWC) in Saugeen Shores.

The generous donation will cover 75 percent of the cost of the equipment, enhancing events hosted by Breakers Swim Team as well as positioning Saugeen Shores to host competitive swim meets such as Lifesaving Sport, Special Olympics and high school swim competitions.

In a recent media release from the Town of Saugeen Shores, Jeff Horseman, President and Coach said that Breakers Swim Team was thrilled to support the AWC. "This technology will allow our athletes and competitors from across the region, to experience high-calibre swim meets right here in Saugeen Shores." Horseman added that it's exciting to see their community "become a destination for competitive swimming, and we’re proud to help make it possible."

The Breakers Swim Team is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing competitive swimmers of all ages in Saugeen Shores and surrounding area. Mayor Luke Charbonneau said they were an "incredible partner" in shaping the AWC. "This donation brings their vision to life and serves as an inspiring example of how community support can help make this project a reality," he said.
