Saugeen Shores Police (SSP) took a report of a weapons call July 11, 2025 in downtown Port Elgin. A group of males had allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation where one had brandished a knife. Four males were placed under detention and a 17-year-old, a visitor to Saugeen Shores, was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerou purposes and assault with a weapon.

Due to the age of the accused and in conjunction with the Youth Criminal Justice Act no further information will be provided about the accused.

On July 10, 2025, SSP took a report of people allegedly shooting firecrackers out of a moving vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Tomlinson Drive and activated their emergency lights. Police said the vehicle was occupied by several people and fled from police.

They were later located and a traffic stop was initiated. An 18-year-old visitor to Saugeen Shores was charged with failure to stop and driving while under suspension.

On July 6, 2025 a 25-year-old visitor from out of province was charged with impaired and had their vehicle impounded and license suspended. Officers conducted a roadside breath screening after witnessing what they called signs of impairment.
