The Saugeen Shores Storm Midget B Girls hockey team, sponsored by the Port Elgin Lions Club, had a great weekend at the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Championship Tournament in Toronto March 23 to 25 winning silver.

From a March 26 submission to Saugeen Shores Hub, The Storm played well against the best of the best teams from various LLFHL divisions making it all the way to the championship game, where they fought hard against the Brantford Ice Cats, narrowly losing the final by three goals to two.

This was the team’s first appearance in the LLFHL, winning their regular season division and qualifying during the play downs for the championship tournament. To play in the final game and coming so close to winning is a great achievement for the team and something everyone who was there will remember for a long time.

Earlier this season the girls added to their trophy collection winning both the St Thomas Panthers Big Cat Preseason Showcase and the Woodstock Wildcats tournaments.

The team has also qualified to play in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincial Championships (OWHA) which takes place in Toronto on April 5 to 8.
